|---|---|
| Textbook | Sullivan, Trigonometry: A Unit Circle Approach, eighth edition, Pearson-Prentice Hall, 2008. |
| Prerequisites | UTSA requires MAT 1073 or equivalent, or satisfactory prefomance on a placement examination. |
| Online Homework |
You will submit your homework online, using MyMathLab.
All the homework assignments will be at coursecompass.
You will need to open an account. Use the access code that came with your textbook. You will asked to enter the course ID: iovino98508.
Homework exercises will be assigned after each lecture. You should work on the exercises on the same day they are posted. Even though you have until Tuesday of the following week to edit your answers, it would be a mistake to wait until the next day. The course moves very fast; if you postpone your work, you are almost sure to fall behind, and it will then be very hard to recover. On average, I believe that you should dedicate at least two hours per day to the homework exercises alone. |
| Exams |
There will be three in-class exams and a comprehensive final. Each of these will be worth 20% of your grade. The exam question will be based on the homework exercises.
The exam dates are: June 10 (Test 1), June 17 (Test 2), June 24 (Test 3), and July 1 (cumulative final).
There will be no makeup quizzes or exams. If you miss an exam due to medical or other (verifiable) reason beyond your control, then the weight of final exam may be adjusted to replace the missing test grade. |
| Final Grades | The grading scale will be the standard one: A=90-100, B=80-89, C=70-79, D=60-69. |
| Attendance | You are urged to attend every lecture, and it is your responsibility to be present for the exams. Attendance will otherwise not be controlled. Keep in mind, however, that some of the questions on the exams or quizzes may be based on examples that have been discussed in class. |
| Tutors and Help | The Math Lab (SB 2.01.02) and the Tomas Rivera Center offer tutoring at diferent hours, free of charge. |
